Cheeseburger Steak
This is a hamburger steak with mushrooms and cheese on top. It can be served with or without a bun. If you are watching your carbs the steak version is suggested. The recipe is for only two burgers, but can be multiplied by 2, 3, or 4 to serve a group.
1/2 to 2/3 ground beef
2 large mushrooms
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 slices of Swiss cheese
2 hamburger buns (optional)
Prepare the hamburger patties, 1/3 pound each in this instance. Slice the mushrooms and sauté them in oil on medium heat until tender (approximately 25 minutes) and hold warm.
Prepare the grill for hot, direct cooking. Grill the burgers for 4 minutes per side, lid closed, for medium rare.
Remove the burgers, top with mushrooms and cheese.
Microwave until the cheese melts (approximately 25 seconds on high).
